As in other Arab cultures, a person will be given a name, followed by the name of his or her father, grandfather, great grandfather and so on. It is important within the culture to have children carrying ones name through to the next generation. It is common to address someone as ‘the father of’, ‘the son/daughter of’ etc.

A Bedouin wedding is a highlight in life and is traditionally held in a desert wadi or valley where male and female guests are segregated during the celebrations. Dance, music and small talks make the centre of the event.

An invitation is not required and anyone is welcome to join a Bedouin wedding. Friends and family will come and go through the celebration.

After the party, the married couple will have their honeymoon, often by the sea sleeping under the star lit Sinai skies.
